The Objective

This international manufacturing business, has their sights set firmly on becoming as green and self sustainable as practicably possible. Over the coming years they will be making different steps to do this in many different ways, from energy consumption, manufacturing processes and fleet.

First of which was getting some of the ‘easy wins’ by changing all of the lighting on the site to LED and to install Solar panels on their large roof.

The Solution

We installed high output Solar Panels on the East and West sides of the roof, this gives a good and even yield across the whole of a day to benefit from all of the suns irradiance.
But, it is all well and good just fitting Solar panels and hoping for the best. More changes had to be made to compliment them.

This is why we also changed all of the fluorescent and tungsten lighting to LED. It gave an overall better level of lighting, and even got fitted with occupancy sensors for when no one is in the area and the lights could automatically switch off.
The huge solar array was also coupled to a live monitoring system that the relevant people could see what they are generating, and also be notified if there are any issues with it.

This is only one phase as part of a bigger plan, with the possibility of more Solar to be added at a later date, and even possibly storage batteries.
