The Objective
- Reduce Energy Consumption Costs
- Produce improved levels and shading of lights
- Demonstrate a good return on investment
When sustainability and efficiency are paramount, organisations are constantly seeking innovative ways to reduce energy consumption while improving the quality of their facilities. In this illuminating case study, we delve into a project for Bishop Auckland College. The challenge was to significantly reduce energy consumption costs and simultaneously enhance the quality of lighting throughout the college premises. Beyond the core objectives, the project aimed to demonstrate a remarkable return on investment, showcasing that sustainability and fiscal responsibility can indeed go hand in hand.
The Solution
We surveyed the building and looked at the existing lighting layout. Upon inspection, some of the areas with lots of light fittings could actually be reduced in quantity whilst maintaining sufficient levels of illuminance, using LEDs with wider beam angles.
An added extra for further savings was to retrofit microwave and Passive Infrared sensors to the rooms where lights only needed to be on when they are being used. Then, to turn off automatically when vacant.
Project kept in budget
Results required were achieved, and within budget.
Balanced lighting
Better levels of light now available with no ‘flickering’ in office areas.
Massive savings on bills
Savings of £16,000 per year on lighting bill with return on investment of less than 35 months.

Powell Uk – Bradford
Solar Panel installations becoming a no brainer for businesses as we head into the later part of the decade. With payback times less than 5 years is very achievable. Whilst making great reductions to a carbon footprint.
This case study takes a look at how we have helped Powell (UK) Ltd take huge steps towards become more self sufficient. It followed on from our LED conversion of all light fittings on the site, already cutting around 60% of their overall lighting consumption. We were lucky enough to be able to provide an expanse on their savings by adding Solar PV panels to the roof, giving an overall total of 260kWp.
Harnessing the Sun
The deployment of solar panels has emerged as a beacon of hope for organisations seeking to reduce energy consumption costs, monitor live data, and leave a lasting impact on their local environment.
This case study takes a deep dive into the world of solar panel technology. We helped High Force Research Ltd. gain a head start along the road of significantly reducing their carbon footprint with the use of a 125kWp Solar PV Array on the roof. Their mission was threefold: to significantly reduce energy consumption costs, establish a live data monitoring system, and make a substantial contribution to curbing their carbon footprint within the community.
Powerful Innovation
In an age defined by the pursuit of sustainable energy solutions, the field of battery storage emerges as a linchpin in the transition towards a greener future.
In this case study, we explore a remarkable project in the category of battery storage, with St. John's Chapel as the forward-thinking client. Their objectives were clear: maximize the storage of surplus electricity, future-proof the installation for potential wind turbine integration, and create a sustainable environment to power an electric AGA cooker using cleaner energy sources.
