Essential Solar Maintenance for Ambulance Stations

In many cases, it can be just as important to maintain your Solar panels as it is to have them installed initially.

The sustainability team at The Northeast Ambulance Service reached out to us for help, as there generation figures had dropped on many sites. After some inspections and testing, we dispatched our team, breathing new leases of life into Solar PV arrays across the Northeast. Some of the systems are 15 years plus and there has been clear drops in yield and performance. We have repaired, improved and cleaned the arrays to allow them to benefit from Solar for more years to come.

The Problems

So many sites where the inverters were either not producing at all due to unknown faults, or low on yield due to dirt on panels and repairs needed.

We cleaned the panels using PV safe solution. Repaired wiring where required, and even replaced old inverters where they had failed with new units that could be monitored remotely and even send alerts when there is a problem. Making it easier and quicker to rectify faults.

This case study takes a look at how we have helped Powell (UK) Ltd take huge steps towards become more self sufficient. It followed on from our LED conversion of all light fittings on the site, already cutting around 60% of their overall lighting consumption. We were lucky enough to be able to provide an expanse on their savings by adding Solar PV panels to the roof, giving an overall total of 260kWp.
